MPCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We strive to encourage all residents and participants of our programs and services to share and enhance our quality of life for the common good. There are 2 branches of our board, please choose from the tiers below to learn more about the individuals that make up our MPCA Board.
EXECUTIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
- Shall serve as a resource person to provide continuity and stability
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Supervises, coordinates, and mediates the business of the Board
- Chairs all meetings of the Board, the Executive Committee and MPCA, when present and able to do so
- Spokesperson for MPCA
- Is an ex-officio member of all Committees
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Chairs any meetings if the President is absent or unable to preside
- Substitutes for the President at any function when requested to do so by the President
- Ensures that any policies of insurance required by the Board are maintained in full force
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Records accurate minutes of all meetings of the MPCA, the Board, and the Executive Committee, and distributes copies of the same to Board members.
- Makes sure that an accurate record is kept of the names and addresses of all Members of the MPCA.
- Is in charge of maintaining the Board’s correspondence.
- Makes sure that all documents required by the Societies Act are filed in a timely fashion.
- Ensures that the required notices to the Members of the AGM and Special General Meeting are properly made.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board.
- Attend monthly meeting of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Makes sure all funds paid to MPCA are deposited in a financial institution approved by the Board.
- Makes sure a detailed account of revenues and expenses is presented to the Board at its meetings.
- Makes sure an audited statement of the financial position of MPCA is prepared and presented to the AGM.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board.

MPCA DIRECTORS
- Oversee the operation and upkeep of the Sportsplex
- Provides instruction and guidance to the Sportsplex Manager
- Prepares budgets for the operation of the Sportsplex
- Monitors the monthly expenditures for the Sportsplex and establishes the appropriate advance to Benchmark Projects who are contracted to operate the Sportsplex
- Coordinates with the Grants Director for application of grants available for the Sportsplex
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Would be responsible for the overall operation of the Outdoor Swimming Pool for which the C.A. has an operating contract
- Be a designated Board member of the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association
- Apply for Student Exchange, CSJ and STEP grants
- Hire a Pool Supervisor/Coordinator
- In collaboration with the Pool Supervisor advertise for and hire aquatic staff for each season & set wage scale
- Ensure that all staff have valid aquatic and pool operators qualifications and training in WHIMIS, Handling of Dangerous Goods and First Aid
- Determine opening date for Pool and advise COSPA
- Collect keys for Pool and distribute and return all keys at year end
- Approve swimming lesson program (if applicable)
- Approve and publish admission prices, lesson prices and concession prices. Oversee all cash handling procedures and audit daily cash sheets
- Attend one or more “in service” meetings with pool staff
- Arbitrate in cases of conflict between staff and patrons not resolved by the Pool Supervisor
- Approve monthly time sheets
- Ensure Pool is closed at end of season and report received from Pool Supervisor/Coordinator
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Oversee the operation and upkeep of the Hall
- Provide instruction and guidance to the Hall Manager
- Prepare budgets for the operation of the Hall
- Coordinates with the Grants Director for application of grants available for the Hall
- Reports to the Board as required
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Be the Tree Steward for the City’s NeighbourWoods Program
- Be involved on the city’s Eco-Round Table discussions
- Address any aspect that comes to the Board with regard to environmental issues
- Provide a monthly article for the ‘Pulse’
- Oversee the community garden
- Oversee Community Cleanup
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Design yearly schedule of events and quote budget for these events
- Communicate volunteer needs to Soccer Director before the soccer sign up in February
- Align the hall bookings for events with Community rental agent
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
Pre Event
- purchase supplies, arrange rentals and signage
Event
- Organize volunteers, supervise, clean-up and lock-up.
Post event
- return rentals, prepare expense report and submit receipts
- Collect, edit and submit newsletter articles to the publisher, there is no lay-out responsibilities or selling of advertising
- Maintain website with content from the newsletter submissions
- Maintain social media feeds with current content
- Liaise with provider of website on technical support and ensure contract is current for hosting
- Attend various community events and take photographs for newsletter
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
- Maintain membership application records, including data entry as required
- Provide bookkeeper with any membership funds received
- Prepare sign-in sheet for AGM and ensure all people who vote are members in good standing of the Community Association
- Process mail in membership applications received and advise applicants of membership numbers
- Maintain up to date membership list on data base and produce print outs or access for MPCA purposes, as required
- Provide information required for membership sales as required for MPCA programs
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
MPCA LIAISONS

- Create teams and assign coaches, photographers and players
- Assign volunteer positions to parents
- Assign teams to fields fro practice and games
- Create game schedules for U6 and U8
- Assign and pay refs for U10 and older teams
- Attend monthly meetings of the MPCA Board of Directors
Community Garden Coordinator duties are in development.

- Working with each executive member to ensure his/her area of responsibility is managed
- Managing changes in operations and key processes to ensure a smooth transition
- Responding to questions and concerns raised by members
- Following up on action items
- Signing authority on the playgroup bank account (in the absence of Treasurer)
- Co-ordination of key communication both internally and externally
- Managing relationships with other users of MPCA Lower Hall
- Serving as a director on the Mount Pleasant Community Board and attend monthly MPCA Board meetings.
